New 52 Power Girl

So many people have mentioned to me and probably all over the internet that they don't understand who new 52 Power Girl is. I don't honestly get this since it's all kind of spelled out there even without the comic being in her voice, her personality shines through.

See you have to understand. Kara Zor-L aka Karen Star aka Power Girl/Supergirl of Earth-2 was sent from her dying planet to Earth. Her rocket moved slower than Kal-L's, her cousins, and she arrived after him. When she arrived, he was fully grown and he was kind of an ass. He locked her up in a light house and kept her secret from the world to make her, his secret weapon. Then war hit Earth-2, Darkseid invaded, sending parademons out and wrecking havoc on the world in general. The Wonders arose to battle this threat, only 8 in all. They were: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Robin (Helena Wayne), Supergirl (Kara Zor-L) and Mr. 8 (Terry Sloan). The 8th hasn't been mentioned yet.

So what does that tell us? Power Girl went straight from being hidden and locked up to going to war to save her world. She's been fighting ever sense. She never got a chance to enjoy her life at all. Then the war ends, a gate opens, her and Helena are thrown to the main Earth. Once on the main Earth, they each decided to take up different roles. Helena decided to be the shadow, the character in the background, much like her father and Karen decided to be in the spotlight. And let's face it, she loved the spotlight. Karen, however, missed her family. She only HAD Kal-L and wanted to get back to him, so she spent a lot of time and money trying to get back to Earth-2, but she was also enjoying life as much as possible while she was there. She dated Michael Holt, Mister Terrific, because she wanted to get technology from him that she hoped would help her return to Earth-2 (which ironically he had and used to get himself to Earth-2).

Karen is also brash, headstrong, and powerful. She doesn't always think things through because she's never really HAD to. She was more of a good foot soldier, but she's proven she's not dumb and she is aware of her powers and capabilities. She likes being the center of attention because she's never been it. She likes the attention. Her early costume was always getting ripped or destroyed, and she didn't care. Money wasn't important to her, it was there just as a means to an ends (and for fun). She also has no qualms about her body and embraces it. She's lonely, but she has her best friend with her and that makes it easier. But it is hard for her to see her cousin, Superman, flying around even though she knows it's not really her cousin, which is why she's rather harsh with Helena about contacting the others. She cares about people especially HER people and she has a knack for making rather savvy business decisions. She is a pretty good judge of character and talent as she's gathered a rather good amount of geniuses around her, to fill in the knowledge she doesn't have.

So yeah.. I think we have a pretty decent picture of who New 52 Karen is and btw, I'm not even up to date with Worlds' Finest. :)
